Taksin, son of a Chinese immigrant and a Siamese, is considered an able and brave military leader. He was first general and became later king. His merit is the reunification of Siam (Thailand).
The white-stoned Wi Chai Prasit Fortress, a French-designed fortress (which locates inside the ground of the Old Palace) built during the Ayutthaya era to guard the entrance of Chao Phraya River; equestrian monument of King Taksin the Great at Wongwian Yai; his statue in the Old Palace (Phra Ratcha Wang Doem); the Old Palace, Thonburi. The relief on the right illustrates the scene in which Taksin persuades his contingent to fight against the Burmese troops
